Hill 37 / Danang, 1st Radio Bn. Feb 70 - Jul 70

Bronze Star --- Purple Heart

Sgt Bob Hrisoulis, "Greek", had the biggest and most constant smile of anyone I ever met. Six months before he was to leave Viet Nam, he volunteered to go on a patrol as radioman out to Charlie Ridge (SW of Hill 37). His helicopter was shot down and everyone aboard died. Bob made life funny, interesting, and amusing. I have visited The Wall sixteen times since it opened and always make time to run my fingers over his etched name and let my own tears go. I will always miss him.

George Hrisoulis, Jr. ... also a Marine and Bob's older brother was twice wounded in Vietnam and we are so thankful he is still with us. A rare message from him. He usually won't share about his time there.

I served in the United States Marine Corp for a little over three years and I served in The Republic of Viet Nam for nineteen months. My serving in the military was both an honor and privilege. To serve in a war zone such as Viet Nam is an experience I will never forget. I experienced being wounded twice in combat and being scared never knowing if I would live another day. I found strength in that I remembered my parents, my brother, friends and relatives back home who depend on us. I saw for myself the effects of war on people who had little food, shelter, little or no medical attention and no one to protect them. I felt proud to represent our country overseas, and to show them that The United States of America is the greatest country in the world.

My wonderful husband of 41 years, Rob who served during the Viet Nam war and made it home safely.

My terrific son, Rob Jr. has been in the military and proudly serving for 12 years and is part of the crew aboard the C 5A Galaxy.
