Veteran's Memorial Page

I would like to take a moment to honor two men in my life that have had a profound impact. I already paid tribute to our list owner and my husband Bob and his service dog Allie. in our updates for today.....but the other man in my life was my Dad - Ron. Daddy was a WWII Vet. who received the Bronze Star for bravery in battle and was a Ranger in a division now called Green Berets. First in - first on - last out as he used to tell me. A good husband, awesome Dad and Father-in-law, and wonderful Grandpa - he was a hero to a great many people and is missed by anyone who's life he touched.

just received some old photos of my dad, whom I'd also like to honor!

My father, R.B. Phillips Jr., was a Marine Gunnery Sergeant on the USS Enterprise, the only aircraft carrier we had left after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, where he served until the end of the war. He was called back into the Marines in 1950 and served about a year in Korea as communications chief for an armored amphibian unit. He was a ham radio operator with a first class FCC radio/telephone license and built a 400 watt transmitter that was comparable in power to many commercial broadcasting companies. He worked in the electronic repair business until his death in June of 1996.

I would like to honour my Dad Frank (1923-1983) who was in WWII he was stationed in Wales and England prior to D Day he trained men to use the night vision tanks he arrived on Omaha Beach with thousands of others on that fateful day in June and then served in France Italy and what became the Czech Republic where he was crippled on the last day of the fighting it is funny now but I don't remember him without his crutches except in pics cos he was a bit vain but he did have surgery the last year and was able to walk then with just a cane When we were kids my brother and I would hide his braces when we got mad at him and he was not able to walk to find them.

also too I would like to remember his brother Georgie who served in the Navy and was at Pearl Harbor on that day in December 1941 He was one of the lucky ones who was ashore and not on his ship which sunk I do not remember the name but it was near the Arizona.

these brave men are now gone along with another brother who served in Europe also Here in England there is Remembrance Sunday in November and also 2 minutes of silence at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month

First my dad Retired M/Sgt James Hurley. He was in the Navy, Army and Air Force. He actually served in the Navy at 15 years old during WW2. They put him out at 17 and he reinlisted into Army/Air Force at !8. He later went Air force when they split. He also served in Korea and then Viet Nam. We lost him because of getting sick in Viet Nam. He will always be my hero

My Husband Sgt (Retired) Christopher Faircloth, US Army served during in Grenada and retired after getting hurt jumping. He is still my hero

My son Sgt Bradford Faircloth is currently serving in Iraq. I am so proud of him. He will always be one of my heroes

This is my son Wayne. He has served 2 tours in Iraq. One as a civilian, working with a private company. The other, he was in the USMC for 8 years. Semper Fi! He is fixing to leave again for the desert. This time it's Afghanistan. We are in fear for him and upholding him in our thoughts and prayers. We feel the same way for all the other soldiers and their families. Wayne is in the National Guard now as a reservist. He got out of the Marines and came home, went to work. The money wasn't great so he went into the Guard part time, going full time for the war. We thought after 2 times of him going over and coming home, the nightmare and worries were over. Not the case. We honor him and support his decision to defend America, but that doesn't mean we have to like it. We are so proud of Wayne and his attitude for our country. Wayne is leaving behind a family of a twin sister, and an older brother. His new wife, Maki, and son Kenneth, who is currently in Okinawa. And of course his parents...dad and step-mom in CT; mom and step-dad here in GA We love you son!

I also want to honor my father, S/Sgt. Ken Grant. USAF retired after 23 years. Daddy is 74 years old now. He suffered two major strokes from Dec. to Jan. and is not in good condition now. However, this man was brilliant before these strokes took him from us in that manner. Always worked hard at his military job as an aircraft jet engine mechanic. My mom was sick most of our life, and daddy always managed to work, come home to cook/clean and then take care of two kids. We adore him. He was known as "Papa" to everyone in his life he touched from the kids, grand kids, and great grands...and all the other kids in an out of their lives. Daddy has taken us all over the world during his time in the service, as well as the USA. What a thrill, adventure and education he provided us with, and having this life. I cannot and would never complain. Daddy, Papa, Kenny...gave his all for the USA, military, his family and friends. He was "dad" to so many military men and families that came to our home when we would be overseas. He talked to them, stayed up with them during troubled times, and opened up our home to be their home away from home. He is one awesome man! Daddy, you are and always will be loved by all!
